This course is suitable for for anyone who is involved with occupational health issues.
You will learn about how to stay healthy at work and of potential health risks faced by construction workers.

Course content
On completing the course you will have an understanding of:
- Occupational health issues
- How changing attitudes towards health risks at work can benefit the workforce.
The course consists of six half-day modules:
- Module 1: Lifestyle
Consider the common lifestyle decisions that affect the future health and wellbeing of you and your family - Module 2: Noise
Find out how the human ear works and discover steps you can take to protect your hearing - Module 3: Vibration
Investigate the hazards and risks caused by vibration from hand-held tools, plus how to reduce its effect - Module 4: Breathing
Learn to recognise and avoid the substances and circumstances that trigger respiratory problems - Module 5: Skin
Examine the diseases that affect the body’s largest organ - Module 6: Musculoskeletal disorders
Look at the health impact caused by injuries to the muscles, joints, tendons or spinal discs and learn how to manage their effect.
Teaching and assessment
- This is a highly interactive course taught through case studies and group discussion.
Qualifications you gain
- CITB National Construction College certificate.
Mandatory entry requirements
- Good understanding of spoken and written English. Please contact us if you have any concerns in this area

How to book
This course can be booked by employers to train groups of workers. You can have between 6 and 16 people on a course.
